A glass and a half for the spirit

A friend recently described chocolate as being "aspirin for a headache of the soul".

Quite poetic. And quite frustrating... I am now into day 2 of mad chocolate (and sugar) cravings which I am trying hard to avoid so that my trip to the gym last night wasn't in vain.

So hot right now

I got this on email yesterday, it made me laugh. And every word of it is true.

Caught by the fuzz

Went and saw an advanced screening of "Hot Fuzz" last night, the new buddy-cop film by the guys who did "Shaun of the Dead". Short answer - this film is great. Absurdly over-the-top action, a great sense of English comic timing, and a beautiful understanding of action film cliches. Haven't laughed this hard at a movie in quite a while.
I noticed in the paper this morning that the director and two main stars are at ACMI at Fed Square tonight for a Q&A together with a screening - I reckon that would be a riot.

Where's Wally?

Apologies, the blog has been neglected of late. It's not that I haven't had the free time, it's just that nothing truly exciting or newsworthy has been happening. Boredom at work has crept into boredom on the blog...

Can't even really remember what I've been up to, but I'll try...

... slowly building up a regular gym schedule (which has been strange for someone so anti-gym for so long). But it has been good; gradually strengthening my ankle, as well as developing at least a hint of fitness, and perhaps if I'm lucky, dropping a touch of flab too.
... getting addicted to Crackdown on my Xbox 360. There is something extraordinarily childish, yet entertaining, in watching your super-hero cop character leap between tall buildings in a single bound, and throw buses around like they were a tennis ball. They don't call it CRACKdown for nothing.

... and oh yeah, and I've been doing something between 9 and 5 most weekdays.

Hmm, must be boring if that's all I can remember filling my time with. The coming weeks are much better though; here's the highlight reel for the next few weeks...
- Holiday in Noosa
- Comedy Festival
- Special guest stars back in town from overseas
- Wrestlemania
- Another home-grown trivia night
- The Pixies @ Best of V Festival
